2nd Preemie Check Up

We just got back from Addison’s 2nd preemie check up appointment. Her last one was at 6 months old. Unfortunately, our little baby is not feeling well and was not very cooperative. Being sick and all – she passed with flying colors. She met with a physical therapist, developmental specialist and her doctor that she had in the NICU – Dr. Goodman. They were completely amazed by her development and, like her last visit, measured her by her actual birth date and not her due date. She is on right track, if not above and beyond, for her age. Also, they were shocked at how verbal she is.

She weighed in at 19 pounds 14 ounces (6th percentile for her age group), her head is in the 75th percentile, she is 30 inches long (21st percentile for her age), again - she is being measured by her real birthday, not when she was supposed to be born (this is phenomenal – per the doctors words). He also commented that he really admired her height to weight ratio. He said from these numbers, she will be a tall lean/muscular girl with a nice metabolism (we know this didn’t come from my stocky/curvy genes ;-))!

All went well, even with her being sick. Dr. Goodman said she has the summer bug that is going around – fever for 3-4 days, diarrhea and just being cranky. He said it should go away in the next day or two and there is no need to go see her normal pediatrician, unless things don’t change by Thursday (we are on the 3rd day of being sick).
